Trump Signs First Crypto Bill Into Law, Ending Anti-DeFi IRS Rule

President Donald Trump has signed the first crypto-related bill into law, officially repealing a Biden-era IRS rule that targeted decentralized finance platforms. The rule, proposed in 2023, would have required DeFi platforms to collect and report taxpayer information similar to traditional brokers. With the rule repealed, the IRS can now refocus on its existing duties and obligations. U.S. Representative Mike Carey (R-Ohio) attended the signing ceremony.
